2009 Compost Bin Sale

Adams-Clermont Solid Waste District will be co-hosting a compost bin sale this spring with the Hamilton County Solid Waste District.  These sales are conducted annually to make backyard composting accessible to all county residents.  Composting is an environmentally friendly way of disposing of food and yard scraps such as egg shells, fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, dead leaves, and grass clippings.  In addition to reducing household waste by up to 24%, composting provides a useful soil amendment for gardens or potted plants.  Adding compost to your garden can improve drainage, maintain moisture, provide nutrients, and stabilize soil pH.   Experts from the Solid Waste Districts will be on site to answer questions about composting.

This years’ sale will be held on May 2nd, 2009 at Anderson Center Station (home of the Anderson Farmers’ Market) located at 7832 Five Mile Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45230.  The vendor, Norseman Plastics Ltd., will be selling Earth Machine Backyard Compost Bins, with a normal retail price of $100, for only $35 at this event!  Other items for sale include the compost turner for $15 and the kitchen scrap pail for $7.  Only cash or checks can be accepted as payment.  The sale runs from 9 am – 3 pm on a first come, first serve basis.  Residents are encouraged to arrive early, since last year the bins were sold out before noon!
